Report from the Symposium on Net Zero Built Environment

The final report for the Smart Net Zero Resilient Buildings and Communities Symposium, held in August 2015 in Montreal, is now available. The event was organized by the Concordia Centre for Zero Energy Building Studies (CZEBS) and was co-sponsored by APEC and iiSBE.

The Symposium consisted of two workshops on August 20 and 21, with nearly 70 speakers and delegates from 16 countries all affiliated with the Smart Net-zero Energy Buildings Strategic Research Network (SNEBRN), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation organization (APEC) and iiSBE. The Symposium was co-chaired by Dr. Andreas Athienitis and Dr. Bruno Lee.

Concordia plans a net-zero symposium for August

Concordia University in Montreal is organizing a small expert symposium of interest for 19-21 August 2015. The event is formally called CZEBS-iiSBE Net-Zero Built Environment 2015 Symposium and is organized by the Centre for Zero Energy Building Studies (CZEBS) at Concordia University. Speakers will be focusing on issues covering smart, net-zero and resilient Buildings and Communities.

A Symposium in Seoul

A symposium entitled Creative Sustainability in Architecture and Urbanism, was held in Seoul, South Korea, on 22 March. The event was organized by Professor Sungwoo Shin, Director of the Sustainable Building Research Center (SUSB) at Hanyang University. The symposium provided an opportunity for foreign and Korean speakers to outline various viewpoints on how best to achieve green growth, a very important issue in Korea. It also marked the culmination of 9 years of operation by the SUSB center.

iiSBE group in Florida holds a Net Zero symposium

A symposium on Net Zero buildings was held on 6 and 7 March in Gainesville Florida. The event was organized by Dr. Charles Kibert, who heads the Powell Center for Construction and Environment at the University of Florida. Professor Kibert was supported in the organization by Dr. Robert Ries, Director of the Rinker School of Construction Management at the university, and was given much organizational support by Lantz Holtzhower, who is completing his Ph.D.at the university.

iiSBE Net Zero Built Environment Working Group Symposium and Call for Papers

This is the first announcement and call for papers and presentations for the organizational meeting and symposium for the Net Zero Built Environment (nZ-BE) Working Group of iiSBE (the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment). This meeting and symposium are open to practitioners, academics, researchers, manufacturers, and policymakers. The event will take place on 6-7 March 2014 in Rinker Hall, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida USA.

iiSBE Net Zero Built Environment Working Group Symposium: Call for Papers

This is the first announcement and call for papers and presentations for the organizational meeting and symposium for the Net Zero Built Environment (nZ-BE) Working Group of iiSBE (the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment). This meeting and symposium are open to practitioners, academics, researchers, manufacturers, and policymakers. The event will take place on 6-7 March 2014 in Rinker Hall, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida USA.
