Our colleagues in Hong Kong have released the final version of their conference program for the global conference on sustainable built environment, being held on June 5-7. This is a major conference, with over 400 peer-reviewed papers, roundtables and technical tours.
Parallel sessions at WSBE17 in Hong Kong will include two 90-minute workshops focused on the performance assessment of small urban areas. The sessions are sponsored by iiSBE and will take place on 6 June (Session 56) and Session 98 (7 June).
The performance assessment of small urban areas is complex, since it raises questions of scale (how large is a small urban area?), suitable key performance indicators, appropriate reference performance benchmarks (similar areas or historical values or...?).
Research and professional teams from several countries will present, analyze and discuss their own approaches to small-area urban performance assessment in the session, supported by case studies where possible.
We are happy to announce that Ms Christiana Figueres will be the Keynote Speaker of World Sustainable Built Environment Conference 2017 Hong Kong (WSBE17 Hong Kong), to be held on 5-7 June 2017.
Ms Figueres is a world authority on global climate change, who has dedicated herself to leading the world onto a path of a low-carbon, climate-resilient future. Named by international media, Ms Figueres is ’the woman who could stop climate change’ and ‘tasked with saving the world from global warming’, we are proud to have her participation at WSBE17 Hong Kong to share her unprecedented insights.
Ms Figueres currently works with global mayors in the largest city-led coalition on climate actions. She was the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC from 2010 to 2016 and she directed the 2015 COP21 climate change negotiations in Paris.
Please note that there are only two weeks left to submit abstracts for the World SBE17 conference, to be held in Hong Kong on June 5-7, 2017. This will be a major international event, organized by Hong Kong Green Building Council, with strong support by local industry and the Government of Hong Kong. The conference is the culmination of the current cycle of SBE conferences operated by the partnership of CIB, iiSBE, UNEP-SBCI and FIDIC. See the attached PDF instructions on how to submit your abstract.
15 July 2014: At a recent meeting of the partners and advisors in Paris, four proposals to host the next global event in the SB conference series were reviewed. After detailed discussions, the proposal submitted by Hong Kong was selected.
